EXAGGERATED LASHES FOR £3.99

Choosing the right mascara is a personal choice. It can be difficult to proclaim one mascara as the best as each individual has different preferences. However, the product I have come across may just adhere to all needs/preferences.

From trying out many mascaras from high-end brands to drug store products, I could never find one that would make my lashes look full without looking clumpy. Around last year, I came across the Miss Sporty Pump Boost Mascara which was a complete impulse buy! This mascara does not only add extreme volume to your lashes but also elongates them and keeps them looking fluttery!  As I always prefer bold eyes, but do not wear eye-liner, I felt as if this mascara helped me achieve that look. This product is priced at £3.99 and there are frequently lower price offers going for this in Boots and Superdrug. I have recommended this to many friends and this mascara is now their GO-TO.

What had drawn me towards this product was the fact the mascara wand was extremely chunky and the mascara formula itself is super black! When I do tend to go shopping for this mascara, I usually stock up two each time just because it is really cost effective and you WILL end up using this everyday.  Rather than spending a good £20-30 on a high-end mascara you will be saving a large amount by purchasing this underrated yet effective product!

5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD TRY OUT THIS PRODUCT…

- COST EFFECTIVE
- CAN CREATE AN EXAGGERATED LOOK
- WITH LITTLE PRODUCT APPLIED TO THE LASH, IT CAN STILL LOOK NATURAL.
- DOES NOT LEAVE A CLUMPY LOOK
- ELONGATES THE LASH AND ADDS VOLUME.

I hope this post was helpful for you girls! If any of you guys purchase it, try it out and let me know how it works for you!
Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions.

10 Tips for Dewy Summer Skin

The dewy skin look does not only look feminine, but makes our faces look youthful, plump and hydrated. We all crave that glossed effect on the face, HOWEVER, sometimes you need to do a little more than just adding a bit of highlighter above the cheekbone, brow bone, inner tear duct, nose and upper lip.

I have seen many matted makeup looks with highlighter caked on top giving a frosty look, resulting in skin looking very dry. There is nothing worse that caked make-up packed with a tonne of highlighter! Highlighted, glowy skin looks best with minimal make-up and bold brows!
To perfect this look, you need the perfect canvas! These following tips will cover the perfect canvas, products and techniques.

1. HYDRATED SKIN AND A TAKEN CARE OF CANVAS
Taking you back to the basics, good skin does not come as easy as you see in the media all hidden behind photoshop and good lighting.
- YES you know what I am going to firstly mention. WATER, WATER, WATER. Water is purely the simplest form of making the skin look brighter, youthful and hydrated. Around a year ago I stopped drinking fizzy drinks and resorted to constantly drinking water.
- Having a healthy diet consisting of fruit and veg is extremely important. My favourites which have helped my skin are avocado, banana and watermelon.
- Also, having an effective skin routine in place is vital (previous blog post). This helps form the perfect canvas for make-up with a hydrated look. Natural remedies are the best and also more cost effective. When talking moisturisers, I would invest in something more pricey such as Kiehls. I cannot recommend this brand enough! The basic moisturiser from this brand stays on my skin all day and leaves a dewy effect without even trying to do so with make-up.

2. A DAMP BEAUTY BLENDER
Soak the beauty blender in warm water till it swells and squeeze. This gives you a streak free and dewy look overall. *TIP* - I have more than one beauty blender as an additional dry beauty blender helps erase make-up off the face when making mistakes.

3. COCONUT OIL/ VASELINE
The MVP of dewy skin- once you have applied your makeup, a small streak of coconut oil on top of the cheekbones, on the brow bone and the bridge of your nose is all you need. When the consistency of coconut oil counteracts against the warmth of your skin, it works against your natural skin oils perfectly! It allows your powder highlighter to stick onto the skin. Vaseline can work just as effectively!

4. LIQUID HIGHLIGHTER
This is the first light layer of highlighter to add to the dewy effect. My two favourites are from benefit. High beam highlighter and the 'Watt's Up' highlight stick. This step is not essential as a very minimal amount is required.

6 HIGHLIGHTING POWDER (AS A SETTING POWDER)
This part is my FAVOURITE. Powder highlighter can act as a setting powder for the liquid highlighter (or coconut oil/vaseline) and it is definitely the cherry on top as it will not move from your face! The highlighter I would recommend as the best is Becca- Champagne Pop. The colour is slightly warmer than silver-toned highlighters and has a creamy texture for a powder. With this highlighter, a little goes a long way, so you wont find yourself needing a replacement anytime longer than you need. This product can only be bought online in the UK- Cult Beauty for £32.00. Do not make the mistake I did and buy it in Dubai - Sephora which turned out more expensive.

7. THE PERFECT HIGHLIGHTING BRUSH
Many choose to use the 'fan brush' for highlighting, however I prefer to use a small fluffy precision brush. This is because it picks up more product and you can really work sharply in the areas you want to highlight. I prefer to use the flat sides of the brush for above my cheek bones and only the tip for the brow bone and my tear duct (for a wider eye-look).
My favourite brush for this would be from the Makeup Addiction collection named 'The Highlighter'. This can be bought on the website and is priced at £5.00.

8. THE ART OF FINGER DABBING
Using your finger to dab on the product gives a more creamier look as opposed to looking frosty. I usually use a brush and also use my finger to add extra in areas I really want to stand out. The warmth of your fingers allows the product to sit on the skin more creamy. This is good for highlighting the tip and bridge of your nose!

9.  FACE MIST
Using a face mist at the end of your make-up routine gives your skin an instant boost of hydration and delivers a soft silky finish! I always use the MAC - Prep + Prime Fix Plus spray for this which is priced at £18.00.

10. FINAL TOUCHES
Make sure it is all blended well with the damp beauty blender! As mentioned before, there is nothing worse than a caked look. All products used must be blended into the skin so the skin looks fresh and hydrated against your natural skin oils.  FINALLY, for pictures, the best lighting is natural lighting from outdoors!

I hope this answers all questions regarding this look!

BEST DEWY FOUNDATION WHICH ALSO WORKS AS A SKIN REPAIRING SERUM!

Hi guys!

So this is me back to blogging after SO LONG! Life had got in the way and now with exams over, I can finally remove most of my blog posts from my drafts and post them up!
Firstly, Although I have many things to blog; from skincare to particular posts regarding my sister’s wedding as well as products, I have decided to add very different posts completely unrelated to beauty. This regards food recipes (if you follow me on Snapchat you’ll understand what I am talking about!) and also just experiences and perspectives.

However, this post is COMPLETELY beauty related and this particular product genuinely CHANGED MY LIFE. In fact, my whole make-up routine has transformed.

Although I am still very big on MAC products, I decided to experiment other brands. My number one foundation would always be MAC studio fix. Although this foundation never gave me bad skin as many other people I know complain about, I did start to feel this was too heavy for me. As I am getting older, my style of make-up has changed from layering on make-up to a simple and clean look. For a very long time I would hide my beauty marks on my face under layers of foundation until I was approached by a few friends and told that my natural features should be complimented and not hidden.

BOBBI BROWN INTENSIVE SKIN SERUM FOUNDATION
This Bobbi Brown Serum foundation I came across changed absolutely everything! FIRSTLY, it contains very natural products such as lychee and mushroom extracts which are my favourites! This acts as a repairing serum as well as a lightweight foundation. I usually layer this on if I want a heavy coverage.

As the ‘strobing’ or dewy effect is really in trend now, this foundation is genuinely  the most dewy I have come across. Not only does it hydrate my skin, but it gives my skin tone a warm and bright complexion as opposed to looking pasty. This is a huge thing for me as previously I have mentioned I am prone to extremely dry skin.  HOWEVER- this foundation is a serum too and therefore can tend to move a lot on the skin, therefore it requires a lot of coverage and securely set with a powder or even a setting spray.

I genuinely cannot recommend this enough!  For a foundation, it is pricey and retails at £39, but it worth every penny!  This is my everyday and special occasion foundation. Thanks to this foundation, I do not touch any other foundation these days. It leaves a very silky texture on the skin with anti-ageing benefits as well as SPF 40 which prevents skin damage.

HOW TO USE
Firstly, shake the bottle well and then pinch the bulb at the top of the bottle to release the serum foundation onto the skin. Afterwards use a foundation brush or beauty blender to blend out the foundation.

THIS FOUNDATION WORKS WELL WITH…

MAC- GOLD DEPOSIT HIGHLIGHTER- I use this tanned, glossy powder highlighter as a blusher on my cheekbones which adds more warmth to the look.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY – DOLCE VITA- Eyeshadow pallete I have posted in my blog previously

YSL Bronzer (for contouring) - This unfortunately has been discontinued, however the Smashbox bronze Lights Deep Matte Bronzer works just as well.

Hope you guys enjoyed reading my first post after AGES! Do give me feedback and comments! Thank you for reading!

SKINCARE

So I have been asked quite frequently about my skincare routine however I have always been hesitant to post about it because believe it or not, I don't do much to my skin.

During my early teenage years, I suffered from mild acne on the sides of my face and my forehead. Eventually I went to the doctors and received a roll-on lotion that helped keep it under control over the years. Thankfully, it did not stay with me and eventually disappeared.

Ever since then, I started ex-foliating my face every 2/3 days as well as the usual cleansing and moisturising but I was never big on products like my mum and sister who would spend hundreds on skincare! My sister has always picked on me because I never break out, yet she looks after her skin a lot more than me and this is why I have always kept skincare quiet as I felt I didn't really have much to talk about.

Recently however, I have realised the importance of skincare as my skin is becoming more mature and the effects  of not looking after it properly have started to appear on my face. Still, I have been lucky in the sense I do not get spots but with my skin being extremely sensitive due to allergies, I have noticed every now and again I am prone to waves of eczema appearing on my eyelids. With my older sister's wedding approaching very soon, I knew I could not take any risks and I had to get into routine with looking after my skin properly.

I like to keep skincare simple, so I wanted to use home remedies as I had seen my sister use face masks and other face products
that were hot in the market, and unfortunately with a few of these, she was prone to break-outs on her sensitive skin. I love eating avocado and when I went through a phase of eating it almost every day I noticed a huge difference on my hair and skin!
One day whilst starting off making a mixture of avocado (to eat!), I decided to try it on my skin as a face mask.
I added:
- half an avocado
- 2 table spoons of full fat yoghurt
- 2 table spoons of honey

Once that was all mixed, I applied it onto my face and let it set for about 15-20 minutes. As soon as I removed it with warm
water, I applied moisturiser (will be revealed further) and instantly my face was feeling a lot smoother and was looking bright
If you try this two or three times a week, you will notice a HUGE difference as I felt it really helped in repairing my skin.

My daily skin routine

The face wash I use every morning and night is: The Body Shop Vitamin E face wash. This is a very gentle face wash which is great if you have sensitive skin like myself! (Another face wash my skin had taken a liking too was the St Ives Apricot face scrub) Every second or third morning (depending on the condition of my skin) I use The Body Shop face buffer which deeply ex-foliates the skin. I have been using that for years and definitely recommend it as it is life changing! Most of my friends also use this face buffer after my recommendations and swear by it too!
Once I have washed my face with warm water, I give my face a final rinse with a splash of cold water. This is because cold water will temporarily constrict
the pores and also reduces any redness after a deeply cleansed face wash.

After I have towel dried my face gently, I apply U-Skin oil, focusing on the problematic areas where my skin is more prone to become extra dry. I received the U-Skin anti-ageing vitamin C serum  just before my sister's wedding month was approaching and I tried it out for a whole month in my skincare routine. It was definitely working on my skin as usually I would apply hydro-cortisone (a prescribed steroid cream) on the problematic areas. However, the long term effects of this is darkening and thinning of skin. Not using this cream and replacing it with this serum was definitely the best decision I made! Although I must say, it did not make much of a difference instantly when I first tried it, and only gradually started showing its effects but it has solved a problem I thought only strong steroid creams could fix. It also made my skin feel a lot more soft and bright.
You can purchase this serum on Amazon! ( Will post link below)I definitely think this oil deserves a lot of recognition as I mentioned previously, it helped me with an issue that I thought only prescribed creams would mend.

FINALLY, once I have given the oil a couple of minutes to absorb into my skin, I use the 'Kiehl's ultra facial moisturizer'. I take this everywhere I go! I apply some for extra moisture before my make-up and also every morning and night after I have cleansed my face! It is deeply moisturising and has quite a thick consistency which is beneficial
for those who can get dry areas on their skin like myself. Only recently I read the ingredients and found out it contains avocado oil! Maybe that is why
my skin had taken an immediate liking to it.. who knows!

I hope you guys found this useful and do leave a comment below if there is anything I didn't touch on or you would like to know further! Also I am going to add that everyone has different skin types and certain products may work on someone else's skin that may not work well with yours. That is why it is so important to test and trial until you find what you are most comfortable with.
I would love to hear back from you guys on how you get on with these products!
If there is one piece of advice I'd give is that ALWAYS KEEP IT SIMPLE. Try and go for more natural products or a product that contains ingredients that your skin can take. ESPECIALLY bride-to-be's! Do not be fooled with products that are being advertised all over social media.

Much Love,
S xx
